About the Artist
Artist Biography
Growing up in the state of Michigan David was always surrounded with what nature’s beauty had to offer him. Trees, fields, and the bright clouds that the reflections of the great lakes intensified. He recalls in his teen years during one of his painting classes his instructor said “If you want to paint an exact replica of those clouds you should put your brush down and take a photograph.” At that moment he realized he wanted to be an artist.
David went on with his education earning a college degree in Printing Technology and then in Restaurant Hotel Management. He later went back for his cosmetology license and opened salon and spas from one coast to the other. Through out he had a side painting business with residential signs, wall murals and canvases.
In his thirties David moved to Cape Cod Massachusetts and once again experienced the intensifying reflection on the clouds from the surrounding ocean. He took painting classes in one of America’s finest art communities, Provincetown, MA. One of his painting instructors was Mary Kass who studied under Hans Hofmann.
Today he lives in one of Americas other finest art communities, Asheville North Carolina, and has made a full time career as an artist. He has taken many of his travels around the world and is now putting them on his canvas. He paints with various mediums but prefers acrylics due to the textures and hues he gets from them.
A Statement from David
On September 27th, Hurricane Helene devastated my home, Asheville NC. Hit particularly hard was the River Arts District, the home of the Marquee where my art was exhibited. All of my art was destroyed in the flood like others. The Storage unit where the rest of my paintings were housed was also destroyed.
The art community in Asheville is resilient. We will eventually rebuild and I have started painting again.
We have chosen to leave the paintings on my website that were lost and are marked as such. This will display examples of my work, even if they are gone. Once I get established at a new location I will post it on my site, and would like to thank you all for the support I’ve received from you.

Artist Statement
Nature at her purest form… touchable, uncontrollable, pure and one of a kind.
As an artist I’m drawn to the essence of a moment, in nature; never the same, always changing. As light moves across the landscape the colors, the shadows and reflections it leaves behind. The movement of grasses, sand and water in pure solitude. I am ever inspired and amazed of what is around me and always looking for new ways to capture it’s beauty with my palette and a singular stroke of a brush.
